Restylane® for Wrinkles at Baltimore Washington Eye Center serving greater Baltimore & Washington, D.C.
Restylane® is a clear injectable gel composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that is present in the body and is the first hyaluronic acid filler to be approved by the FDA for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles, such as the nasolabial folds, tear troughs, oral commissures and marionette lines. Restylane® works by integrating into the soft tissue where it attracts and traps water to maintain volume and adds fullness. Overtime, Restylane® is gradually reabsorbed and follow-up treatments are needed to maintain results.

Clinical studies show that at least 95% of patients saw results for up to 18 months when they followed the Restylane® Regimen, which consists of follow-up injections at either 4.5 or 9 months. On average, only half the amount of Restylane® used at the initial treatment was needed to achieve full correction at the follow-up treatment.

Perlane® is a product in the same family as Restylane® and is also used to add volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles. Like Restylane®, Perlane® is a clear gel made of hyaluronic acid and also works by trapping water to acheive fullness, but the gel particles in Perlane® are larger than those in Restylane®, which makes Perlane® a better choice for deeper injections and improving the overall volume and contour of the face. Perlane® can last for up to 6 months with just one injection.
