Varilux® Progressive Lenses

About Varilux® Progressive Lenses
Varilux® is a type of progressive addition lens (PAL), which is also called a “progressive”, that is actually a modern replacement for multifocal lenses such as bifocals or trifocals typically used to help people see up close or arm’s length when they reach the age of presbyopia. Presbyopia is the gradual loss of your eyes' ability to focus on nearby objects. Some signs of presbyopia include the tendency to hold reading materials at arm's length, blurred vision at normal reading distance and eye fatigue, as well as headaches when doing near work.  Progressive lenses like Varilux® provide all the benefits of a bifocal without a separating line and the attendant “image jump” that some people experience with bifocals. You get a full range of vision correction without taking glasses on and off by slightly looking up for far away, ahead for intermediate, and down for seeing better close up. There are actually a number of types of Varilux® progressive lenses that we might recommend depending on your particular needs.

Varilux S Series™ Lenses
Varilux S Series™ lenses with their unique and patented lens shape and design can get your vision closest to how it was before you needed progressive lenses. Many people feel off-balance or experience “swim”, like the world around you is moving, while wearing progressive lenses.
Thanks to the technology in the Varilux S Series™ lens, the swim effect is virtually eliminated, offering you stability in motion and more confidence while completing day-to-day tasks. Varilux S Series™ lenses provide:

  • Clear vision from top to bottom and side to side
  • Allow your eyes to work better together as one visual system
  • Provide you the ability to focus faster

Varilux® Physio® Lenses
Whether you are looking at high-tech equipment up close or enjoying the view in the distance, everyone wants the sharpest vision at any distance. Like all Varilux® lenses, Varilux Physio® lenses make it easier to switch quickly between viewing distances, and with Varilux Physio® lenses, you also get the advantage of the patented Varilux® Wavefront Advanced Vision Enhancement (W.A.V.E Technology), which provides many benefits including:
