Rohit Lakhanpal, M.D.

Rohit Lakhanpal, M.D. is a Retina Specialist & Vitreoretinal Surgeon at Baltimore Washington Eye Center where he provides diagnosis and treatment of retina diseases including vitreoretinal surgery for retinal detachments & tears, Lucentis® injections for diabetic retinopathy and age related macular degeneration (AMD) and other specialized retina surgery and laser treatments of retinal vascular diseases. 

Dr. Lakhanpal earned his Medical Degree from the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine and completed a residency in ophthalmology at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center where he was appointed Chief Resident. Dr. Lakhanpal then completed a two-year research and medical retina fellowship at the Doheny Retina Institute followed by completion of a two-year vitreoretinal surgical fellowship at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston where he served as Chief of the Retina Service for the Ben Taub General Hospital, the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Hospital and Texas Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Lakhanpal is the recipient of the Fletcher Jones Foundation Grant for his work and was one of the founders and the Principal Investigator of the Doheny Digital Reading Center’s Diabetic Screening Studies as well as having published over 40 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in the areas of retina disease and surgery.
