Arturo E. Betancourt, M.D., F.A.C.S. is a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist and Cataract eye surgeon at Baltimore Washington Eye Center. Dr. Betancourt is the President and Medical Director of Baltimore Washington Eye Center and is recognized as a talented eye surgeon who brings unparalleled training, education, experience, and exceptional leadership to our center.

Dr. Betancourt earned his Medical Degree with honors from the University of Puerto Rico and then interned at the Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco. Dr. Betancourt completed his residency in ophthalmology at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Betancourt has advanced his clinical skills through participation in ongoing continuing education courses as well as lecturing and teaching eye surgeons in training at the reputable University of Maryland and the Uniformed Services, University of Health Sciences.

Before joining Baltimore Washington Eye Center in 1988, Dr. Betancourt served as a flight surgeon in the Middle East and practiced ophthalmology at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center, gaining extensive experience in cataract surgery and lens implants surgery, laser treatment for retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy and medical treatment, laser treatment and eye surgery for glaucoma.

Dr. Betancourt is certified by and a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of American College of Surgeons, as well as a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Medical and Surgical Faculty of Maryland.

At Baltimore Washington Eye Center, Dr. Betancourt sees patients for routine eye exams for eye health and vision, cataract evaluation, laser cataract surgery & lens implants, diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma and consultation for all other types of eye diseases, problems and surgery.
